Time for a change

Have you ever just looked at yourself in the mirror and thought "Holy Shit!"

I get like that alot these days. That big mirror in the bathroom is a right bitch just now. Its all revealing and reflective and shit. It wants removing, along with all the other mirrors in the house.

You see I've put on quite a bit of weight recently and I'm now in a situation where i am seriously unhappy with how i look. I'm not the biggest i have ever been but I'm coming dangerously close which is just unexceptionable.

I feel ashamed that i have let myself go and to be honest its causing my self esteem to take a bit of a kicking. Agent D will call me a "pretty lady" and i instinctively think he's ripping the piss. Clothes shopping is my living nightmare. Sitting in the changing rooms clutching the largest size they carry, knowing your never going to fit into it has reduced me to tears on more than one occasion.

I hate how i look.

But I'm the only one that can change that.

Its only me that can make the positive steps in the right direction and get off my backside to loose the extra weight.

And that's what I've decided to do.

Enough is enough!

I have ALOT of weight to shift and its not gonna go willingly.

  2. That is brilliant that you're going to do something about it. Most of us just keep on whinging. I'm kind of at the stage where I don't really care and am sort of embracing the flab! Linking up to Brilliant Blog Posts

  3. It doesn't usually happen when I look in the mirror, but it does when I see a picture of myself and then I say "Holy shit!" ....right now I have a pass (4.5 months pregnant) but I'm dreading the taking off of the baby weight....good luck to you! Visiting from #WeekendBlogHop

    1. Awe you definitely have a pass with a wee baba on the way :) When you have the little one take the time to enjoy your new baby. My teeny is 8 now so i have the opportunity to focus on myself a bit more without him needing my constant attention. Good luck with the pregnancy :) xx

  5. As you know I'm starting to try and lose weight for similar reasons, it's awful when you don't like what you see in the mirror, and I'm determined I'll be changing that! I'll look forward to seeing how you get on, I KNOW you can do it

  6. It is tough when we feel unhappy with ourselves but there is so much you can do. It is not easy being a mum and for many of us the weight slips on unnoticed whilst we are busy seeing to everyone else's needs. Please avoid crash dieting. Just make small changes here and there. That way it lasts. When we begin to feel denied then it is not good for us. At some point we will over eat and destroy the hard work. Slowly and gently is best. Another much missed tip is to start picturing yourself whenever you can as slim. Focus on that rather than the weight you are. This works for our mind rather than against it. Best of luck. I hope the tips help. Kirsten (Hypnotherapist and Counsellor)

    1. I don't really believe diets work to be honest. To me they always seemed like a band-aid. They might work in the short term but I'm looking for long term results. I've been trying to cut out the bad foods one at a time (read that it takes 21 days for a habit to stick - hope that's true). I'm making more sensible choices and exercising more.

My goal this month is cutting out fizzy drinks and in the first week i lost 2lb ... and im hoping that will continue.

Thanks for the advice Kristen :) Its appreciated and i'll keep that in mind :) xx

    1. Small and steady is the way i'm going ... I'd rather loose a little at a time and keep it off than loads at once and pile it back on. I'm hoping for long-term results :) Good luck to you too Helen :) xxx

  8. I hate photos of myself for that reason, I'm blissfully ignorant in my head then see photos and think, wow you need to lose weight. It's about finding ways to make yourself feel better about yourself that you enjoy and not being too hard on yourself. I look forward to following your journey and thanks for joining #FitnessFriday xx

    1. That's part of it for me. I refuse to get my photo taken cause i hate how i look but then I'm not giving Agent M a very positive message by hating how i look. It also makes me feel sad that i don't have many pictures of myself with family. That opportunity wont be there forever xxx

  10. Oh yes, definitely! I don't think you should feel ashamed, though. It's just a few extra pounds. Personally, I only seem to be able to make postive changes when I feel good about myself. I would suggest you concentrate on your awesome bits, then the rest will follow. Good luck. xx

  11. You can do it lovely! The fact you want to do it is one of the biggest hurdles you need to overcome. I have been where you are, trust me! In 2 years I have lost almost 6 stone... Over 3 stone of that this year alone. If you find something that works for you, stick to it - get into a nice routine and you will easily be able to stand in front of that mirror and exclaim 'Damn Girl, you look hot!'
Remain positive and focussed, we are all here to help you get through it love!

    1. I'm in awe Sim. Well done! ... I've got 6 stone to lose to fit within the NHS guideline for my height and age ... Its gonna be hard but i'm looking forward to feeling better about myself and feeling healthy. I imagine the future when i can walk into town without getting out of breath and when i can run about with Agent M without having to sit down for a bit.

I'm keeping focused and with any i'll get to where you are *High 5* ... I'll be sure to keep you updated :) xxx
