Mum in a million

"The person you like and why"

This one is hard as I like lots of people, so I thought about who I admire most and that one is easy – My mum.

Now over the years we have had our moments but what mother and daughter hasn’t. And if you ask her, she will say there is a lot of things she wishes she had done different but to me that just means that she has learned from life.

My mum is my first and forever best friend. There isn’t much I can’t tell her and the things I can’t is more me not wanting to worry her as she lives so far away from me. She is easy to talk to and would give you her last crumb, even if she was starving. She loves me and my sister unconditionally and I mean that. There is nothing that would make her turn her back on us and that love makes me feel safe. I know that no matter what happens in life my mum will always have my back.

That love has trickled down to the next generation too. She adores M and Sweet face. She is always spoiling them like a grandparent does and she is the proudest wee granny ever. She would do anything for her family.

She has had a few horrible partners, but she didn’t give up and she always pulled herself back together when a long-term relationship ended. I admire that as I know it’s not easy, especially when you have kids to take care of too and she has now found the man who takes care of her in the way that I long to be. She takes care of him too which is how I have always seen the role of a woman in the relationship. You take care of your man and he takes care of you.

I am very similar to my mum and I am grateful for that as she is one of the strongest women I know. I am fiercely protective of my mum and won’t have anything bad said about here, even when its her putting herself down. I’m very lucky to have been born to that woman and she will always and forever be my wee mammy.
